August 6 Sermon
Do Not Be Afraid!
Here on Galveston Island today we visit a story that we can easily identify with, the story of when “Jesus Walks On The Water” in Matthew 14. In this story, we see how Jesus comes to the disciple when they are deeply troubled by a storm that has hit them while they are in their fishing boat. Not only are they afraid of the high wind and waves, they wonder if Jesus is some kind of ghostly spirit. But Jesus calms the storm and sustains them and reminds them to never doubt. In their midst of our own fears and storms, we too can depend on Jesus to sustain us everyday because we belong to Him and He cares deeply for us all.
Here at First Lutheran Church of Galveston, you can learn of God’s love and compassion for all people and be able to build your faithful relationship with God and be able to service the needs of your Galveston neighbors or wherever you are.
