First Lutheran Church will host a “Feed Galveston” food packaging event on January 20, 2018 as part of the ELCA’s God’s Work Our Hands event. The event will be held in The Lyceum – adjacent to First Lutheran, 24th & Winnie, in historic downtown Galveston.
This will be our largest event to date, with 50,000 nutritious meals to be packaged that afternoon and then donated to area food banks.
At our last event in May, we packaged 30,000 servings with 100 volunteers. We will need more this time so please consider this fun event.
Please join us and and bring your friends and neighbors.
This is an excellent opportunity for civic groups and other organizations that are interested in helping their neighbors.
Sign up in the narthex or on line at FeedGalveston.org
Donations are also being requested. Donate with cash or check in your weekly offering, designating it for FeedGalveston or using online giving through our church website designating FeedGalveston.
Volunteers and civic groups that would like to participate are welcome! This is FLC’s largest event to date with an anticipated 50,000 nutritious meals to be packaged that afternoon and donated to the Galveston County Food Bank for distribution throughout Galveston County to those in need. “God’s love in Jesus Christ empowers us to serve God by serving our neighbors. The Feed Galveston ministry is one way we can meaningfully serve our neighbors. It is ‘God’s Work’ through ‘Our Hands.’ And, it is our hope for the hungry to be fed, yet even more we hope to build lasting relationships as we serve our neighbors and walk together sharing the love God has for all.”
