An event every week that begins at 6:30pm on Tuesday, repeating until December 19, 2017
Beginning the first Tuesday of June, June 6, First Lutheran Church will offer the Galveston community a new outreach program by sponsoring/hosting a walking/running program – “Get Better Together.”
The group will meet weekly on Tuesday evenings, at 6.30pm in the courtyard between First Lutheran Church and the Galveston Lyceum (24th & Winnie in historic downtown Galveston).
Coordinated by certified running coach and First Lutheran member, Erin Grigsby, the focus of this new initiative is the opportunity to “come together, get ourselves outside and moving, improve self esteem and form new friendships.”
This new walk/run group is open to the public; all ages – everyone is welcome – from beginners, all the way up to experienced runners. Grisgby, along with Matt Frye – an area high school teacher, athletic coach, and an Ambassador for the Chevron Houston Marathon – will organize, motivate and coach the participants.
“We look forward to working with our participants – not only to help each person establish a personal goal, but to encourage new friendships and to have fun with this new adventure!” explains Erin, owner of Anchor Leg Coaching. “Our long-term goal,” she continued, “is to train for a charity run – where we can participate and give back to the community.”
Following each Tuesday evening’s outing, participants can cool down with light snacks and bottled water provided by First Lutheran.
